PromptShield — Privacy Policy
This policy describes how the PromptShield — AI Chat Protector Chrome extension (“PromptShield”, “the extension”) handles information when you use it.
Summary
- PromptShield does not send your chat messages or drafts to our servers. Scanning runs on your device in the browser.
- We do not run analytics or telemetry inside the extension.
- We do not sell your data.
- The extension may open links you choose (for example, a feedback form) in your normal browser tab; that is separate from the extension’s scanning logic.
What the extension does
On supported AI chat websites, PromptShield can read the text you are about to send (for example, when you press Enter or use a send control) so it can warn you if it looks like sensitive information (such as certain ID formats, payment-related patterns, secrets, or similar). Processing is done locally to show you a warning or optional redaction before send.
Data stored on your device
Settings such as on/off, optional developer mode, per-site preferences, and related
options are stored using chrome.storage.sync, which is
managed by Google Chrome and tied to your Google account when
you are signed into Chrome. PromptShield does not operate its own account system for this
data.
Website content
The extension accesses text content in the supported AI chat pages only to perform its safety checks and related UI (such as a typing hint). It does not upload that content to PromptShield developers for analysis.
Children’s privacy
PromptShield is not directed at children. Parents or guardians should supervise minors’ use of AI tools and browser extensions.
Changes
We may update this policy if the extension’s behavior changes. The “Last updated” date will change when we do.
